Daycare description / philosophy

We are a mother and daughter team who have decided to pursue our dream of creating a safe and comfortable space for children to learn, thrive and grow. This space is an intimate learning environment for the early years, full of nourishment, potential and love- your child's home away from home.

Our center is called 'Play to Learn' because of our great knowledge and enthusiasm in the Emergent Curriculum. We believe all children's curiosity, wonderment and discoveries happen through play. We feel all children are competent, curious, capable and rich in potential.

With over 25 combined years of experience in the field, diplomas in Child and Youth studies and Early Childhood Education, we are fully prepared and knowledgeable in supporting your child's needs.

We are open from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm Monday to Friday. Our fees are $45.00 per day per child. Our meals consist of a morning snack, lunch and an afternoon snack. Our meals are well balanced and nutritious, peanut free and strictly follow the Canadian Food Guide.

At the beginning of each new month a menu and newsletter is provided to each parent; detailing the learning that is booming in the walls of our center, including pictures and upcoming events.

Our programming is especially based on your children's interests. We believe the best type of learning happens when a child feels a great sense of Belonging, Well-Being, Engagement and Expression in the learning environment.

We invite the children to engage daily in songs and stories, science experiments, sensory and messy play, arts and crafts, dramatic play experiences, free play and quiet time.

It is important to note we take full advantage of our community and neighborhood. Our home is in a great location close to a variety of parks, a flower shop and a bakery. Special trips are taken with parent's permission.

Together we are confident we can provide a safe and comfortable place for your child, free of stress or anxiety. Our home is a non-judgmental environment that will provide your child with freedom of expression and exploration. We have a large, fully-fenced outdoor space that offers shade and beautiful grassy areas.

Two teachers with five children ensures back up care is readily available if the other is ill. Vacations taken on different times so the center is always open for your convenience.

With such concentration between two teachers and five children there is an immediate attention to detail where no child will need to fight for attention. We are in the business of caring and we have a genuine passion for this profession.

Infants, toddlers and preschoolers welcome! We currently only have ONE full-time infant space available (0 to 2 years of age).
